Trip to MOTAT
On Thursday room 12 and the rest of the Kauri Team went to
MOTAT
( Museum of Transport and Technology)
It was such a Blast! Once we arrived everyone was filled with joy and excitement! Firstly, we all had our morning-tea before we got split up into our 4 groups to start our session with one of the educators, but before that we had a little roam around in the "Challenge Zone". Then we had our first session with one of the educators. We got taught about goats and what important roles they play as a goat. We got to pat them, and in return they had to sniff us because that was how they said Hello! Then the educator took us inside to a little room to teach us about how people in the olden days lived and worked, and not only we got taught about that but we also got to try on the cool little clothes that they wore in the olden days. It was so much Fun!
Next, the nice kind educator took us to our next session with a different educator. This educator got us to make something similar to "Pavlova," but only with egg whites and vinegar. First we had to seperate the egg whites from the yoke, then we had to pour a little bit of vinegar. Next we had to mix it all together until it was white and lumpy. After that we had to put it upside down and check whether it would fall down or not, then on the count of 3 we all poured the vinegar at the same time and BOOM! It exploded like a volcano! It was so much fun! After that, we all went to have lunch before our last session.
Our last session was with the same educator but a different topic, about mixing different chemicals to make a volcano. Later on we went into the Mirror Maze, which was "Awesome Sauce" because people kept running into the mirrors when they thought it was the way out.
Overall we all had a good time and we all had fun!

MOTAT
On Thursday the 10th of May room 12 and the Kauri team went to MOTAT in a bus. When we arrived we ate our morning tea then we got split up into 4 groups. The first thing we did was have a little roam around the challenge zone then we had to go with an educator and see the goats. It was really fantastic and fun because we got to pat them and learn about the way New Zealand used goats instead of cows because they weren't really available in those days.
Next we learnt about how people use to dress like in the olden days and we actually got to dress like them , after that we learnt about how people had a shower which was really gross. We also learnt about the things that they used and how they never wasted anything especially clothing and food. When we were done learning with that educator we went to another educator which was actually the boss of MOTAT and with him we learnt about making whip cream by just separating the yolk from the white things , making our own little volcano with vinegar and baking soda, getting banana peels and cleaning off the scratches on your shoes and helping the scientists by tagging butterflies.
Next we had lunch and then we got to go in the mirror maze and that was awesome sauce because we always got to bumped into mirrors and if we are stuck we could look up and follow the direction it was going. At the end of the day we got ready to go and jumped back on the bus and went back to school. We all had a great time there and learnt so much and we hope we can go there again!

Trip to the Botanical Gardens
At 9:15 in the morning on Thursday Rm 12 walked to Botanic Gardens with our Kauri team. When we arrived at the Botanic Gardens we got split up into three groups and got an educator that taught us about how nature works. We also learnt about the F.B.I's(Fungus/Fungi Bacteria Invertebrates), how to make a worm farm and how to save your money by reusing the things that you have and reducing your things into useful equipment. Next we went on a treasure hunt which was really fun and fantastic because we got to see how amazing the environment is and keeping it that way. After that we went back to school, we all had a lot of fun and we hope that we go there again.
Over here we learnt about the worms and how they live.
We also went on a treasure hunt and looked for different types of flowers. We also looked for fruits and vegetables and differet types of trees.
While we were on a treasure hunt we also went to the children's playground and it was full of very fun activities such as going through this tunnel, hiding in a gigantic egg, sitting on log chairs and many more.
There were different types of groups to participate in the treasure hunt. That were really competitive and hard working while looking for their treasure!
Lonny Fair
Lonny Fair was a blast!
We sponsored a needy girl from Malawi and helped her by raising money towards her and her village. Room 12 sold popcorn and did "Guess how many is in the jar" towards the fundraiser. We raised a lot of money that will help Lonny have a better life.

For Lonny Fair we were fundraising money for a girl called Lonny from Malawi, we sold popcorn for 50c and people had to pay 50c for a guess of how many lollies that were in the jar.
Other rooms sold other different things such as sodas, zombie juice, cakes, biscuits, drinks and more. When we were fundraising for Lonny it was a lot of hard work but we also had a lot of fun at the same time. The school raised a total of $1700.50c.
We all hope the best for Lonny and we also hope that she grows up happy.
